Welcome to the Whatbird Forums

We are proud to introduce the new Whatbird Forum, Blog, Photo Gallery and RSS System for all levels of birders. This new upgrade is based on Community Server 2.0, an award winning platform for rapidly enabling online communities.

We have set up this bird forum to help you discover and share knowledge about birds. If you need help identifying a bird ask our ornithologist David Lukas in the Help Me Identify a Bird forum. Be sure and give all the identifying marks you can remember, and include the location where you saw the bird. You can upload your bird photos to our Photo Gallery or view those that our members have added. Many of these are beautiful. (you can also attach photos to your message.) The system is set up to let you create a new blog and a new photo gallery for you when you first register.

Note to leave a message, upload a bird photo or create a bird blog you need to register for the site. Just click this link: Join.

To change your user profile or create an "avatar" icon click on your user name at the top of the screen.

  • A GREAT Day of Birding

This morning was the monthly bird walk held at LeFleurs Bluff State Park in Jackson, MS and the weather was perfect; sunny and cool early but warming up as the day went on. Before we even walked away from the cars, we had seen 5 species. As we started...

  • The woods

I went off to the woods and swamp today after the past 3 days of heavy heavy rain to see what was going on and to check out a couple spots where I can put up a hide. I was going to spend some money on some new glass for my 10D as it turned out I decided...

  • Ballona Freshwater Marsh report for September 18, 2008

Back out to the marsh. I was hoping that waiting until fall things might pick-up out at the marsh. Hard to believe but the marsh was less birdy then the Del Rey Lagoon the day before. Hummm, where are those fall migrants?? They haven't made it to Los...

  • Del Rey Lagoon and Jetties report for September 17, 2008

I haven't been to my local patches for a while. They're just not that 'birdy' during the summer. I was hoping if I waited until mid-September things might have picked up. The Lagoon and the Ballona Channel were pretty unbirdie. Oh well... Not much in...
