    Re: personal request

GREAT NEWS!  We got a great report today.  My husband's tumor has decreased significantly in size...even the lymph nodes have shrunk.  The doctor even gave us hope that there is a chance it may possibly go away.  He only has to take one more treatment with the powerful drug he's been getting (cisplatin) and then they will replace it with another not so harsh drug, which won't leave him feeling so wiped out after his treatments.

He's not cured, by any means, but we are certainly more hopeful than we've been since this thing began.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.  Keep up the good work!

     Praise the Lord!

    Valleygirl,

That is WONDERFUL news!!  I was hoping you would give us an update today.

We're all pulling for him and will keep you both in our thoughts and prayers!!

I know how hard chemo is, but if it's working than it's totally worth it!

    Take Care,

    Nancy

    Valleygirl,

I wasn't on these forums much this summer, and I totally missed this thread. Sorry to hear about the bad news, but very happy for you and your husband regarding the current trends.

You have always been a calm, friendly, and helpful presence on this board. Your husband is lucky to have you by his side as he works through this period. Best wishes and best of luck to both of you.

That's OK, Seed Mortgage (your name and avatar always make me smile)

Thanks so much for the compliments.  Although the last few months have left me feeling anything but calm the thoughts and prayers of my family and all my Whatbird friends have certainly helped me get through this sharp turn our lives have taken.

Thanks, purple.  As soon as he gets finished with this last cycle with Cisplatin hopefully he'll feel like celebrating.

    Re: personal request

Valleygirl, I am so sorry to read about this.  I haven't kept up with posting here, as we've been undergoing our own crisis in my house.  I know exactly how you feel, since my husband is battling kidney cancer.  You are in my prayers, as it can't hurt to have too many! Smile  I hope you guys are celebrating right now.

    Re: personal request

I am so sorry to hear about your situation.  It's nice to have others who can empathize with what your going through but cancer is one of those things that you never want to experience.  I guess if there are any positives it is that you find out how many people really love you and that they are willing to help you and pray you through tough situations such as this.

My husband was able to skip a couple of weeks getting a treatment becaus he was experiencing some stomach and kidney pains and the doctor thought he needed a break.  (He had taken 5 cycles of Cisplatin/Gemzar) When we went back this past Friday he started on a new regimen of drugs,(5FU/Gemzar)  which have caused him to get sick.  He's been feeling pretty sick all day today and running a low grade fever, which we will keep a close eye on.

So, no, we are not exactly celebrating right now but still thankful that he is still alive and doing reasonably well.  He will probably be re-scanned in a couple months.

I will definitely pray for you and your husband and families.

    Thank you for your prayers.
