My wife has floral hanging baskets, and a pair of house finches, (visual identification) made a nest in one of them! She asked me to take the basket down so she could water it without pouring the water on the nest, in case there were eggs or chicks. To my supprise there were 4 house finches eggs, (pale blue eggs with brown specks on the big end), and what appeared to be 2 house sparrow eggs, ( slightly larger pale green almost white eggs with lots of brown speckes). I have heard of this behavior before, but not in house sparrows. Has anybody heard of, or seen this behavior with sparrows? I removed the (sparrow eggs?) and according to an egg identifier web site, I believe I have identified the eggs correctly? Anybody???
